Pension credit claim delays

I applied for pension credit last October , C.A.B . helped me a lot,and assured me I was eligible.
Despite a couple of phone calls to the PC phoneline, there is no sign of any decision (let alone money) and ,although the call centre ladies are polite and sympathetic, no one can even provide an estimation of when a decision might be made.
It's a lot of money to me,are they just waiting for us to die? More to the point,if a decision hasn't been made by the time I shuffle off, can my estate still claim the backdated sum?

Unfortunately there has been a long delay in getting Pension Credit for the past few years. I applied in July 23 and heard nothing until August 24. I asked them why it had taken 13 months but they didn’t know.
From what I read recently since the fiasco with the winter fuel payment only being paid to pensioners on Pension Credit the DWP has been swamped.I asked my MP to intervene about 6 weeks before I got the first payment, I’m not sure if that made a difference or it was just coincidence. It may be worth trying0 -
I personally know someone that claimed PC on my advice around end of October and had a decision and a lump sum in their bank account in 8 weeks. They’ve also now received the WFP.0
