Older houses often had papered ceiling in fact there were specific papers for this.

Would it be possible to dampen the area of bubble and inject wall paper past undeerneath it to stick it back down?

Although I am sure you could use normal wallpaper paste and it would be cheaper, this is perhaps a more convenient option.

Pretty much all our ceiling have lining paper on the ceilings - and many on the walls.  Not that you could tell.

What I did when I moved in was use a Stanley to cut away the seams that had curled out, used diluted PVA on the area, and then used interior filler.

Sanded flush you'll never see it.
  • How old is the house? Very often wallpaper is used on lath&plaster ceilings and walls to hide imperfectnesses and to keep together cracking lime plaster falling apart. Quality re-plastering is difficult if not impossible. Much easier to replace it with plasterboard.
That said, textured wallpaper can be used for aesthetic reasons.
I have damp walls & it is not an old house. How do I fix it?

VastPace you really need to ask your own question. Look for the round red spot with a + in the bottom right corner and that will give you a new thread to start.
If you can give more detail - age of house, semi/detached/bungalow/flat will help people give the right answers.

SneakySpectator - I bought a ready mixed unbranded fine filler from a diy shop and its great at filling small cracks and dings without showing.
A bubble in wallpaper you usually slit with a sharp knif in the middle and stick down trimming any surplus.
I'm chuffed to bits with having no dings, dents and cracks and I've managed to even out rubbish plastering. Looking like new now painted :)

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

First, identify the source of the damp.
Condensation - Heat, ventilation, and possibly a dehumidifier will help to improve matters.
Penetrating damp - Leaking gutters/downpipes, roofing faults, elevated ground levels - Fix faults and then treat as condensation.
