Hello awesome community,
I'm after a little help with this one. I parked at my local cinema last year to visit pizza hut and then watch a showing of lord of the rings return of the king. For years there were no restrictions on the car park, but suddenly they appeared. I hadn't noticed any of the signs (since going again, I have noticed that all the signs are in English, even though this site is in Wales - not sure if that helps here). They expect you to enter your number plate in a tablet (that's always busy), and then that grants you free parking all day - it's madness.
I appealed against the penalty and explained, I had said in that appeal I would send nothing to them, and they should run along 🤣. Nevertheless, I was told to send my evidence and then they would reduce the penalty to £20 (which I do disagree with). Because of their terrible online appeal contact system I sent my cinema receipt via post with a letter explaining my evidence, and that I disagree with the £20 charge.
I had no reply, until a week later explaining that the appeal process had come to an end and that I hadn't sent any documents.
The next I heard about it was from DCBL, which included an email address. I emailed them explaining the situation, and attached my evidence, I also sent the same email to the complaints address for UKPC. DCBL replied saying that they're instructed by their client, etc, and UKPC came back to say that the appeal process was over and they'd proceed with the full balance owed.
I've today received a court form. I've just completed the acknowledgment, but was wondering if you could guide me on what to do next, and what I should say.
I know the next step is to write the defence, but just looking for some guidance with this please.
Thank you all so much!

Report the picture for removal ASAP, too much private information on show , read the yellow banners at the top of the forum
I can see the claim reference and the password, and the VRM details too, anyone could login and add a rubbish defence, or a malicious sweary one
Ukpc via DCB Legal, issue date 6 February 2025
I bet that the issue date is incorrect in the POC details too

You're right, the issue date of the PCN was 21/06/2024, but in the POC details they claim 17/06/2024.0 -
Just study recent threads on here containing the typical paragraphs 2 , 3 and 3.1, adapt to suit
Your aos will need to be done online this week
As a forumite you can now edit your own posts
That date error is very common2 -
With a Claim Issue Date of 6th February, and having filed an Acknowledgment of Service('AOS') on 10th February, you have until 4pm on Monday 10th March 2025 to file a Defence.
That's four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence but please don't leave it to the last minute. To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look at the second post in the NEWBIES thread.Don't miss the deadline for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an AOS has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.2 -
Just copy the example para 3 seen in the thread by @shahib_02 and change the date. Add that into the Template Defence (adding 'and driver' to paragraph 2) and that's it unless you want to add a few facts as para 3.1.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
