I bought something last year in a bundle offer for £312.50. At the time of purchase, item A cost £75 and item B cost £260.

Item B developed a fault that the retailer agreed with and asked me to send it back. They didn't ask for item A which is fine and I'd like to keep that.

Obviously I wasn't expecting the full £312.50 to be refunded.

Their selling price of item A today is £110. They've taken £110 from £312.50 and refunded me £202.50

Item B is currently selling today for £290.

Is this fair? It feels like they are effectively charging me todays price for item A which I bought last year.

It's not ideal but could you not have opted for item B being replaced rather than refunded?

You purchased as a bundle originally so got the discount. How much were the items pre-bundle price last year?

I didn't want a replacement as B now has several reviews all claiming the same fault that I had, so I was concerned about getting it replaced with another faulty one!

At the time of purchase, item A cost £75 and item B cost £260.

They are deducting the cost of item A today which is £110.

It feels like I'm being charged an extra £35 for something I bought last year.

Their selling price of item B today is £110.

Item B is currently selling today for £290.

One of these is not like the other. How much is item B today?

As regards the refund, we don't know what item B is or how long you have had use of it but you paid £260 last year and they have refunded £202.50, so deducted about 25%, which for all we know might well be a reasonable deduction for use.

I've got myself in a muddle! Original post now edited.

Item B is selling for £290 today. Item A is selling for £110 today.

The expected lifespan of the item is about 15-20 years according to the sales pitch when I bought it.

You should get £237.50 refunded  (£312.50-£75) unless they deducted a usage fee from item B
When last year did you buy?

Then they can't make a deduction on the refund, what method of payment did you use?

Gift card, so I haven't got rights like I do with a credit card.
