Denied buying probate house because I am not local, even though offer was better

Perhaps the previous owner stipulated in their will that they wanted it to be sold to someone with local connections?
The other buyers were deemed to meet the criteria more than you. It's not always about money.
A friend of mine in Germany has to write a letter to the owner saying why they wanted the property. It was a period property in a beautiful area with lots of demand for it. They had to spend a huge amount of time drafting the letter to make sure they had the best chance of securing it.

If they did that then they wouldn't have a house at all as houses rarely come up in this particular area. They wanted the house so were willing to show they were worthy of it. They got it. Why cut off your nose to spite your face if you actually want something?

i have bought probate propertys which i flippedin hot markets say summer 2016 i remember it was red hot market i put an offer on a bungalow that had 6 sealed bids onmy offer i was told later was 3rd highest 7k below highest offer/i did prove proof of funds when i submitted my offer which went to sealed bids.so bought a property when i was not the highest offer / i had bought propertys from this estate agency before so maybe they put in a word / i have no idea .0
