specified adult childcare credits part year

Hi, We have regularly looked after our daughters children over the last few years and my wife is short of NI contribution years. She has successfully claimed for two of these years where our daughter had full contributions from childcare credit and self employment. She has other years where her self employment covers part years, including one that covers 51 of 52 weeks. Is it possible to make a claim for these part years also? Thanks for any help on this.

Did you really look after the child for sometime in every week in the year whilst the parent worked - no holiday ?  You can claim individual weeks.

You don’t claim individual weeks at all.  You claim whole or part years.
My Daughter’s a Teacher, my Wife claimed, and got, the whole years’ credits for our Grandson from age 6 months - 4 years.

Thanks for your reply. How does this work? For instance if a claim was made for 4 separate years of say 30 weeks each, does this make up 2 complete years for the recipient? Or would they receive 30/52 for 2 years only?

You claim in the November after the tax year you want credits for.  My Wife claimed for October 2019 - April 2020 then April 2020-21 then April 21-22.   You print off the form and the giver and the recipient have to add details and sign.  You can’t do it online.
I have no idea if 30 weeks would give a whole year’s credit.
My Wife stopped working in the October to care for our Grandson and couldn’t claim until the following November.

It is weeks within a tax year so in your example it would be 30 weeks so requiring another 22 to get a full year.

Doubt it.  It’s easier to claim the whole year,  they’re hardly going to ask for proof.
