Unknowingly subscribed

This is probably my own stupid fault, but  I’ve unknowingly been paying £10.99 a month for nearly three years for a software subscription I wasn’t using.

Last summer April 2024 I tried the upgraded version and, before the trial ended, I specifically asked the agent to ensure all other subscriptions, including the £10.99 one, were cancelled. The agent confirmed that no other subscriptions or payments were linked to my account after the trial ended.

However, after noticing another charge Feb 2025, I contacted support to query and it turns out the subscription is tied to another of my email to a different email address. Given that I haven’t logged into the other account  since July 2022 and this is an honest mistake does anyone know if I have any recourse in this situation,  or do I just have to accept the loss?

You just have to take it on the chin. Check your bank and credit card statements for any other outgoing payments you are unaware of.

Sadly no recourse. All you can do is ask company & see if they will refund as a goodwill gesture

So you have two accounts with them and you asked them to cancel any subscriptions related to one account but not the other?

Have you spoken to them yet? Some companies will be more generous than they need to be when they can see the application/service hasn't been used in the time

Does your account have multiple email addresses or is it one account per email address?  If the former then it may be worth pursuing the company, especially if they confirmed that in writing, but in the latter scenario you'd probably need to suck it up - no harm in asking them for some sort of refund but it doesn't sound like you'd actually be entitled to one....

DullGreyGuy I was unaware / forgot that I had used a different email to set up  the account when the subscription was started. The recurring payment was through Paypal so the invoice was going to my main email account, even though the secondary email is also linked to my paypal account.

I have just looked and it's just one email on that account.

Checked the support ticket raised last year when I asked them to make sure any other subscriptions where also cancelled and they have specifically referenced that there are no other subscriptions linked to that email account.

I have just looked at the pricing plans and this one now appears obsolete and I am wondering if its free now.
