Travel insurance after medical tests

This makes for the ridiculous situation where I could have been insured if I had cancer as a declared condition, but not when I have not got any evidence of cancer.
Can anyone see a way around this?

A friend recently had a similar situation where his insurance company agreed on 'requires monitoring' and that covered him. Sorry, don't know the company but worth a try. 🤔

Some insurers will cover you for everything else but exclude the condition "being monitored".
Try Avanti - you'll have to phone them and go through their questionnaire with them, but I had similar circumstances and the excluded item was only included once I'd been discharged.
If not Avanti, try Worldwideinsure. Can't remember which one I had the policy with at the time. We used Avanti first year we were waiting a diagnosis of a condition. We've used insurancewith.co.uk the last 2 years now we have a condition to declare, on a "watch and wait" plan. They are worth a try, and we got annual worldwide joint policy for £350 last year.

Thanks, everyone. That's all very helpful and given me some lines to follow up. Most of the insurers I have looked up so far have have a blanket policy of no cover at all if there are any undiagnosed conditions, so it is good to know that there are some exceptions.
You hear advice that you should think carefully before opting to get a PSA test, but I must say this was one result I did not see coming!0 -

Getting the right cover
Can I get cover?
If you can answer all of the following questions with a ‘yes’, we may be able to cover you if you’re awaiting a diagnosis or surgery:- You’re fit and able to undertake your planned trip.
- You’re NOT travelling against the advice of a doctor (or would be travelling against the advice of a doctor had you sought their advice).
- You are NOT travelling with the intention of having medical treatment, tests or consultation abroad.

If an insurer refuses cover because somebody is having regular checks to confirm they don't have a condition they could potentially refuse cover for those offered annual checkups by their GP surgery.
