Has anyone used floor-site.com for carpets?

We're looking for a supplier for a Cormar carpet for our dining room, and came across a site called floor-site.com which offers carpets at trade prices (they advertise themselves as a B2B operation). In our case the carpet is being offered at a price around £160 lower than retailers.
I was wondering whether anyone had had any experience of ordering from this company as a consumer? Presumably distance-selling legislation would not apply if they are a B2B operation?

Some distance selling laws apply to B2B contracts of course, the UK is not a free-for-all. But I assume you are referring to consumer rights legislation such as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Credit Act 1974?

Whether it is a consumer sale depends entirely on whether the two parties meet the definitions in the specific legislation. Broadly speaking if your purchase is not wholly or mainly in connection with your trade or business then it is a consumer sale. The seller doesn't get to choose. And if it is a consumer sale, the seller's T&Cs can't override or remove any of your statutory rights.

Before accepting a first order, Floor-site might require you to set up a trade account with your VAT number and other company details.
Also, remember that their prices are quoted ex-VAT which they will add on at the end, so the overall deal might not be quite as attractive.

    Is the price including VAT?
Are you happy that you need space to unroll the carpet to inspect before cutting and laying?
Are you happy to carry it from the door to the room? Do you have room for storage before your carpet layer comes?
Are you happy that they may not contact you by telephone to say exactly what time of day it's coming? Someone will need to wait in.
Are you happy that it might not exactly match in colour you see online or a sample?

Not that that differs too much from a retailer depending on who you buy from but some does.
Read the T&Cs carefully. The company seems ok, I've heard of Cornish companies doing deliveries such as this because of their location.

I used to do carpeting cheaper and it's a lot of work where as I pay extra for a local retailer and they bring the carpet in, advise on underlay and if there's a problem rectify it themselves.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Yes the price includes VAT. I have room to store the carpet until the fitters arrive. I can ask the fitters to bring the carpet upstairs. We're around all day, so no problem re. delivery times. They've already sent me a sample, so colour shouldn't be a big problem.
The T&Cs all look normal to me.
