Buying extra state pension qualifying years

I would like to buy some additional NI qualifying years for one of my sons who cannot afford to do so himself. His income includes an element of Universal Credit, and my concern is that if I send him the money so he can buy them using his own bank account, it might cause his benefit payments to be reduced, if HMRC assumes the money is his. So my question is, can the payments come from the account of a relative, eg myself or perhaps from his wife's account ?

It could be paid cash over the counter at his bank branch, HMRC bank account details are in the paying class 3 web page, using the 18 digit code as the reference. https://www.gov.uk/pay-voluntary-class-3-national-insurance/make-online-or-telephone-bank-transferHas he confirmed with DWP and HMRC what he wants to pay and already got the payment code ?Does he actually need the additional years ?

Thanks for your comments. If he can pay in cash using the payment code at his bank, could I do that from my bank using his code ?
He already has the code & does need the extra years.0 -
As far as I recall when doing mine, HMRC don't ask and don't care about which bank account you are going to use to make a faster payment, so as long as you have and quote the 18 digit reference then I'd think you can just do an online payment directly from your own bank account.0

My friend definitely did her top up payment in a bank with the 18 digit code, but don't know if cash was used.0
