Argh.
Transferring files from sil's Lenovo laptop before I do the clone (yes, safety first...)
Lappie was connecting to WiFi fine until yesterday, until it started dropping out - 'not connected', but I could usually persuade it to connect again.
Tried the 'power management' trick so the laptop cannot cut power from the adaptor, but no difference.
If I hover over the (world with 🚫) symbol, it says, "Not connected - connections are available." If I click on it, it comes up with two - neither of which is mine, and I have a strong signal - I've even gone right up to my router.
'Saved networks' includes mine, and it's set to 'connect automatically'.
Device manager says it's working fine.
What the hell?

What do you mean by "sil's Lenovo laptop", what is the "sil's?"

    1. I understand that many users have reported problems with the  RT3090 particularly after Windows 10 updates.
    2. I believe there is no reliable fix for these problems.

Thanks all - and, yes, sis-in-law - HSBlues.
I'll do some googling on that, then, Eyeful - thanks.
Originally a W7 lappie, which I upgraded to '10' the last time I had to replace the keyboard!
She hadn't used it for quite a while, so my first task this time was to install all the updates.
Such a weird symptom, tho' - it would still seemingly detect a couple of local networks, but not my own despite it being much stronger. And yet it showed as stored under WiFi Networks'.
And then it just started working again.
I'm going to see if Lenovo comes up with any updates on its own site.
    Cheers.
