Toilet waste connector

I have just removed an old toilet - probably 50 years old. The toilet waste was cemented into a collar that's around 5-6", which is on the end of what looks like a 4" waste pipe.

I have a 4" connector, and I can probably jam that in the 4" pipe, ignoring the collar. Only, there's a problem, as the 4" pipe is curved (the curve starts right behind the collar), so I'm not sure the 4" connector will fit properly.

Is there a connector that will just plug into the collar? I can measure the exact size, but I suspect they are all the same, as I have seen similar in other installations from that time.

Or is there another way of doing this?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

There are 4" soil pipe connectors (old size) and 4 1/2" available. I wonder if the 4 1/2 would do it. I think I'd try the internal fit pipe connector first though, they would normally do the trick.

    Photo, please?
If the actual receiving pipe doesn't have enough length to allow a good insertion, the solution may be to include the collar recess in the adaptation too, if that's the best way to ensure it's secure.
    Myriad of adaptors available.

Yes, I did wonder whether photos would help.

Ah, I thought it was a clay pipe for some reason!
What fitting is going in there - another photo please 🥺
    What 'cement' was used originally?
Anyhoo, I'd have thought a rubber gasket, sitting in the collar, would do the job, but it would need to be suitably snug.
And, when you come to insertion, if you mark the inserting pipe, you should be able to push it in the right amount - so it goes into the narrower pipe by, say, an inch.
We need some dins, tho' - the ID of that collar, the ditto of the narrower part, and the OD of the pipe that's going in.

I read it as the toilet outlet pipe/fitting was inserted into the plastic pipe.i may be wrong

Is it not too long if the old toilet outlet was 'cemented' directly into the waste pipe?
I think you need something like these:

Currently, how snugly does your connector's white ridged gasket fit inside the collar?

Good point, thanks. I’ll assemble the loo then check the length I need.

There’s an inch gap  all round it. The connector is designed for the pipe, which is around 4 inches, whereas the collar is about 6 inches. I was just wondering whether anyone makes a connection for the collar rather than the pipe?
