Last year, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service launched its brand-new smoke alarm testing reminder service, which encourages residents across Nottinghamshire to test their smoke alarms weekly, helping to ensure that their homes are as safe as possible in the event of a fire.

As part of our smoke alarm testing campaign, which is currently running until the end of February, residents who sign up for the reminder service will also be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a £100 Amazon voucher.

Testing your smoke alarms is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your family and home from the dangers of fire. A working smoke alarm can provide a critical early warning in the event of a fire, giving you and your family valuable time to escape. However, many people don't test their alarms as often as they should, which is why the fire service is encouraging everyone to get into the habit of testing them weekly.

Signing up to the reminder service is quick and easy - once registered, users will receive a weekly email, reminding them to test their smoke alarms.
