Power of attourney refund

I was wondering if anyone can help me please. We used a company called Zenco legal Limited. We purchased both parts of POA for heal and finances, and then used the faster pre check option. We paid, £99.00 for health and £99.00 for finances, each part cost and additional £25.00 for health and£ 25.00 for finances to recheck
Unfortunately the documents got send out all filled in with signatures for us to fill in, but my mother died.
I requested a refund, expecting prorate or some amount to be deducted and from the initial £248.00 we had paid they said they would only refund the £50.00, and no amount of the policies would be deducted.
I asked what their terms and conditions are they said this. We will only give back £50.00.
Is this right that after someone has died they can keep that amount of the monies??
We were not expecting a death and this has been hard.
We just wanted some advice
Thank you all

If the (3rd party site) has already paid the fee via the proper lpa government sites then it's not refundableEx forum ambassador

You employed a company to do the work, which they did, so you have no fight to a refund. If, and I hope you are, looking at doing your own LPAs then you can do this yourself without paying a third party.0

Sadly when our relative passed away, the power of attorney was awarded on date of death, we applied directly, about 8 months after death we got a full refund, this was direct and not though a legal advisor. Not sure it was worth the time dealing with them and getting the refund. Better to forget about it! Life is to short.0

I would guess the OP has fallen foul to 3rd party terms and conditions.0 -
I got a refund having submitted forms directly when my husband died unexpectedly, shortly after the forms were posted.
I never requested a refund as I just assumed I wouldn't get one, but I did email them to say he had sadly died so they needn't process it.
I was quite touched by the gesture.2 -
Thank you to everyone who has replied. This has been a time where we were unsure of what we were really doing. But it has opened my eyes to our lives and realised that a LPA should be done and filed for us both and to update our pensions to the beficiaries if we were to die. Still alot more to learn and time to book into see a financial specialist for us.
But once again a huge thank you for advice it is very much appreciated.1
