Cannot claim for mortar tinting?

I have a warranty that states, the following is excluded for all sections of the policy:

"Any change in colour, texture, opacity or staining or other ageing process."

The policy also states that all work should be done in accordance to best practice.

I've asked for a claim on the policy to cover mortar matching for a brick repair, they refused to cover it.

I thought "Any change in colour, texture, opacity or staining or other ageing process." would just refer to making a claim, not what work is being done.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

The old mortar colour has changed as part of the ageing process, so on that basis they are correct.

But its not the old mortar. New mortar is going in along with new bricks, ive asked for the new mortar to be tinted to match, they have refused.

I believe the chances of making a match would be  near to in possible you would need to experiment with various ratios of dyes and allow to dry to compare.
The only other way is to rejoint all the wall.
    Do the new bricks match?
Have you been lucky that existing  bricks are still produced?

Tinting the mortar can also be a short term fix and long term problem, on day 1 it may look more similar but when the new mortar starts to age and naturally change colour it then ceases to match and may end up looking more different for the rest of its life than the untinted would have over time.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not concerned with a match, I just want to know about the policy coverage.

In you first post you said, 'I've asked for a claim on the policy to cover mortar matching'

    You now say, '
I'm not concerned with a match...'

So what is your claim about?

I just want to know if I can claim for mortar matching as part of a larger claim.

    Thanks

It might help if you tell us what you mean by 'mortar matching'.

You already know you can't claim for any change in colour, texture, opacity or staining or other ageing process.

it sounds very much a cosmetic thing
mortar matching service ensures the mortar colour and texture is the same as your building
The Pointing Mortar comes in 8 coloured containers, you simply blend the cementitious powders to match the existing brick colour,

it sounds like OP needs to put in a claim, which would usually be covered but by requesting 'mortar matching' it has been denied
