How much can you receive from a discretionary fund id you're claiming benefits?

I assume you can't have more than £6k in your bank if your claiming UC. So any discretionary fund payments would have to take this into account?
My neighbours brother is his funds trustee but there's nothing particular in the will that states how much he can get but as he's on benefits I assume he can't go over £6k. He's in Scotland.

Maybe he can bring that forward a little and can use his trust how and when he requires.0 -

That's a very broad statement, without knowing anything about the person's circumstances. Many of the people I've known with trust funds are unlikely to ever come off benefits.
OP as said above the benefits board would be the place to ask that question. It's a long time since I worked with people who have trust funds, but when I did the money wasn't transferred to their bank account. It was used to pay for extras, such as holidays, and was paid directly to the holiday company or the care company which was providing staff to accompany the person on holiday.
A bit about the person's capacity and the wording of the trust, would probably help people to respond to you.
