Application rejected: Name mismatch

Fourth Anniversary First Post
Hi,

Bit of a dilemma, I made an error in my application where I only used one of my two 'first' names, which resulted in verification and application being rejected.

For example my name is: John Andrew Smith with no middle name, with 'John Andrew' being my first and 'Smith' being last.

For the CC application I only used 'John' for the first name, and everything went through fine, until the identity check where I submitted my passport which contains 'John Smith'. There was an option to resubmit identity again via 'Miltek', but no option to rectify the CC application, so I then removed the passport and submitted stupidly, which resulted in application being rejected.

I'm wondering, if anyone was in the same situation. Did you call Natwest so they rectify this and reopen my application, or will I have to open a new application?

Also, will this affect my credit history either way?

Thank you.

Just to add, I've used 'John' alone for other lenders and everything worked just fine, hence why I submitted the application like this. It seems certain lenders verification system are picky.

Ideally, I should've known better and went for the safer option.

Is John Andrew one name, I would assume it as two separate given names, with John as the first and Andrew as the middle name.
Maybe that's what is confusing the "system" ?

Your passport doesn't identify first name -v- middle name, it has given name(s) and surname(s) so if your name is John Andrew Smith or "John Andrew" Smith it will still be written given names John Andrew and surname Smith. Birth certificates give even less detail with just a continuous field for "Name", in older hand written ones (like mine) there is no distinction, in more modern typed ones the surname is often capitalised but again no distinguishing between first and middle name(s)

For me I regularly apply as Dull Guy dropping the "Grey", which in my case is a middle name, my passport however is in the full Dull Grey Guy and never had any problems with the fact I didnt complete the extra name on the application.

Sounds like maybe it was rejected for failing to complete KYC checks rather than actually failing the checks themselves. If Natwest would allow you to resubmit and/or adjust the application can only be answered by NW, given how hot a topic KYC is it could go either way.
