Barclays blocked account

Hi All,
Need some advice. So last Tuesday my husbands Barclays account was blocked along with our joint account and savings account. My account is still fine and working.
He has spoken to them so many times and they were unable to explain the reason for this and to wait 7 days.
Fast forward to today I received a letter addressed to me saying we have frozen your account (joint account) please get back to us regarding these transactions. Instantly I was like what the hell looking at the transactions there was two 1. For December 2 of £200 from source nationwide 2. For December 3rd of £300 source nationwide.
Instantly I checked my statements as NO money ever gets paid into this account apart from me and my husband from our Barclays account. 1 DD goes out of here and that’s it. Checked the statement nothing of them transactions nothing within 15 days of what they have asked for.
I rang them today and asked what is this as this does not match up with what they have sent me, they said this is the reason my whole entire account has also been blocked due to these transactions but mine hasn’t. They mentioned my husband will also get the same letter regarding these transactions.
I explained I have no idea what they are going on about, nothing on my statement what so ever which they confirmed is the case. Then they go on to say oh these amounts were due into your account. I said from who as no one has these account details. They said just from someone who banks with nationwide.
No one has the bank details, the account isn’t used much.
Is Barclays at error here cause I am puzzled. My husband has over £1500 set his account for our rent which is now late due to this problem what on earth can I do they said it can take up to additional 7 days. We cannot wait anymore I am so annoyed as it makes no sense!! HATE BARCLAYS. Anyone had this issue before?
Spoke to them every day since this has happened, my joint account is back up and running with no info as to why this has happened husband account still blocked I don’t know what to do

They can't tell you or your husband why they've blocked the account due to anti money laundering rules. You just have to wait until the investigation is complete0

@Olivetree2020 if you don't already have another current account at a different bank, I wonder if it would be worth you opening one, for yourself only, with a bank your husband doesn't bank with. Just in case they decide to freeze yours too. Maybe arrange your salary/benefits to go into the new account so you are not without money if the worst happens.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

Smells likes some fraud at Nationwide to me. The amounts are too small to trigger AML.Emmia said:They can't tell you or your husband why they've blocked the account due to anti money laundering rules. You just have to wait until the investigation is completehi, I personally have 4 accounts with Barclays and my husband has 3. I have two current accounts joined saver, joint account and my husband has personal account joint saver and joint account. We have checked all statements for every account. No transactions link up to what they are saying. One advisor even confirmed this, which I replied why was this letter and block sent out then?We do not have nationwide accountsThey have unblocked my joint account with no explanation regarding the transactions they were referring to but still have my husband blocked due to internal reviews makes no sense!0 -

If it's blocked, do you really can check the most recent transactions/statement? If you checked the old statements or other accounts - what was the point?Regardless, the only you can do is to relax and to cooperate with Barclays if they ask any questions. Like all banks they don't rush and have no reasons/incentives to.Meanwhile, like advised above, it's worth opening spare accounts with some other bank(s) and borrowing money somewhere if you are desperate. For short-time borrowing it can be a credit card.

And when you say they've unblocked *your* joint account - can you husband also access it? (As, presumably, it's the same account).
The transactions won't show up on your statements if they were intercepted and blocked in Nationwide (as they didn't happen).
Given your personal account was never blocked, and it was only the accounts where your husband was either sole holder or a joint holder that were blocked, that suggests that the payment was due to go into one of your husband's accounts - probably his personal one.
In terms of communication: If there is a money laundering or fraud investigation going on and they tell you about it, then they can be prosecuted and go to prison (for up to 7 years). So they're not going to do that (would you?)1 -

My husband still unable to access the app or online banking as his account is under internal review (no idea why) cannot see the joint account or nothings
just concerning that they sent letter regarding the joint account for transactions that don’t exist and nothing to my husband regarding his account…0 -
What does your husband say? Is he (unlike many young people) wise enough not to get involved in some money muling scheme?1

So someone who has a Nationwide account tried to send some dodgy money or money from a business account to either your husbands sole personal account or joint account! The bank transfer then got stopped by nationwide who told Barclays to suspend the account it was going to and any other account associated to it, whilst they investigate the source of the funds most likely the nationwide account will suspended as well! That’s why yours wasn’t suspended!Did you husband sell anything recently, expecting some money from a friend or did some work for someone! The only quick way to get his account unblocked fast is to prove the source of funds he was expecting! Otherwise it could take ages & they legally can’t tell
you about the investigation1
