claim back money from Heating Engineers

In March 2024 we had a company (I will call them X) put in a new en-suite shower. There were many faults (which we took photos of) and X (begrudgingly) came to fix them (though still badly). We have photos. However, X also installed a shower pump in our airing cupboard (we still have our original boiler), and the pump malfunctioned. X blamed the pump manufacturer and installed a different pump which was of poorer quality. Upon getting in touch with the pump manufacturer, they informed us that the pump had been installed wrongly, (which also meant the previous pump had been installed wrongly). We informed the X who then installed a third pump (which is now spluttering again). With photos etc, the pump manufacturer has informed us that not only is the pump installed wrongly, but it is the wrong pump. We have had two other independent heating engineers come to look at the pump, and they all say the same thing - that the pump is the wrong one and installed wrongly. We have been in touch with X who installed our en-suite on a regular basis (over a year!), and have emails and Whatsapp messages to prove that we have informed them that the pump is installed wrongly. They have now informed us that if we contact them again, they will consider it harrassment.  We either need to replace the pump ourselves (at a cost to us) or possibly move to a combi boiler due to their poor workmanship. I have been in touch with our credit card and initiated a Section 75. However, I am unsure as to what the next step would be if this failed. If we decided to move to a combi boiler (as we are fed up with the pumps spluttering) we are doing so due to the poor installation of the pump. Would we still be able to claim for the cost of the pump and installation costs (we have had a quote from the pump manufacturer and another Heating Engineer for the costings)?

Did either of the other heating engineers tell you about the faulty installation in writing?  If not, it would help your next steps if they could.

I think you're into wishful thinking if you want the credit card company to pay for a complete new boiler because a shower pump was installed wrong.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

No I didn't say that. I have claimed for the amount of a new pump - and yesterday Section 75 awarded me the amount. So all good in the end.

Are you sure it was definitely processed as a section 75 claim if it was resolved very quickly?  Card companies will often choose to handle claims via chargeback instead, even when raised as via s75, as this largely eliminates their financial impact, and this will often result in reimbursement that's speedy but only provisional....

Looking at Op sounds like this has been going on a long time. So could be out of time.
No mention of amount or any time frame?, Shower pumps do not appear to be to expensive. So it is possible (again no mention of amount) that it has simply been written off.
