Mortgage Protection and Voluntary Redundancy

I am currently on consultation and will have to apply for my current job or select voluntary redundancy. If I get my job I have to TUPE to the parent company if I don't then I go back to voluntary redundancy. At this point there won't be much choice you either take it or face a TUPE over to the parent company and will have a much harsher redundancy process. I have read the small print of my mortgage protection and I am not eligible if I take voluntary redundancy but this is really not very voluntary so have no idea where I stand. Does anyone have any experience of this.

But you do have a choice - apply for your job or voluntary redundancy?
Have you worked out how much redundancy you would receive? How long would this cover your mortgage until you get new employment?1 -
As it stands I have a choice to apply for a job or take VR. I will apply for a role. However, if I do not get selected then they state you back to voluntary redundancy. But my point that is not voluntary at this stage. Regardless of redundancy I have paid mortgage protection for many years and therefore I want to use it. It could take me quite some time under the current job market to get something at the level I am currently at.0

If you apply for a role but don't get selected then I cannot see how they can claim that is voluntary redundancy - surely it would be compulsory if they don't want to keep you on.
I have been in a position myself where I have TUPE'd following a takeover and the new redundancy terms are not as good as previous. In my experience redundancy terms are rarely contractual so as long as they give at least statutory minimum, there is not much you can do. If they are contractual then personally I would be expecting the new company to honour them.
When you say they have a harsher process, what do you mean? Are you just referring to the amount you would get?
