Would you pay an APCOA penalty notice if you’d done the wrong thing?!

I got an APCOA penalty notice at Bedford Railway Station in the car park, stuck to my windscreen. I found I actually had parked in a bay that was on the end of a row and wasn’t really a bay, and had a double yellow line denoting that. Woops.
Would you pay it, in these circumstances?

No, I wouldn't pay it. If a driver did not know they shouldn't have been parked at that location, then it is reasonable to assume the signage and surface markings were inadequate and incapable of forming a contract.
In addition, and this is very important, APCOA are not permitted to issue penalty notices. It is a misrepresentation of powers they do not have.
Read the sticky Announcement for NEWBIES then either appeal around day 26 from the date of issue using the template in blue text you will find there, or ignore it and wait for a Notice to Keeper to arrive and then appeal as keeper, adding a line to the template that the site is not relevant land, and therefore the keeper cannot be held liable so they should cancel now to save themselves money and the embarrassment of losing at PoPLA.
Do not reveal the driver's identity under any circumstances. This will time out after six months so you just need to play the delay game until then.

No one who is here receiving advice pays a penny to APCOA, whether for a fake Penalty Notice or a Parking Charge Notice.
You may wish to report APCOA to Action Fraud for issuing a fake Penalty Notice that falsely relies on civil contract law while using unlawful language to deceive motorists into paying under false pretences.

No of course you don't pay
Appeal it when notice to owner in the post arrives 26 days after arrival unless a lease car
Then await the 6 months from date of issue for it to time out then it's game over.3 -

No. So easy to beat and £100 doesn't match on-street PCNs and is considered extortionate.
Do what @ChirpyChicken says BUT NOT IF IT IS A LEASE OR COMPANY CAR.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
