ATM's, bank and otherwise

I havent used ATM's for years, cashback in supermarkets' checkout tills, rather than ATM's.
(A long time ago there was a scare of criminals inserting a gadget that skims your bank details etc, off your card).
Has this problem gone away - for example using the ATM outside supermarkets?
This does not seem to get mentioned on consumer progs

No, the problem hasn't gone away entirely but isn't a major issue.1

I don't know if the problem has gone away but I would always prefer the ATM at a bank to an ATM elsewhere. And an ATM inside the bank is preferable to one on the outside.2

No, the problem probably hasn't disappeared entirely. However, the chances of it happening are so slim it doesn't bear thinking about.1

Not/never was a major problem.1
