If you are selling your own old possessions there is no implications at all.

Only businesses buying to resell need to be concerned.

I am still very concerned at the lack of clarity and understanding around tax in the UK. This question rumbles on and on with tons of misinformation being bandied around, as well as some downright worrying ‘advice’, I’ve no idea how to begin to address the issue though.

I suspect there will be more threads in the coming months once sites like Vinted and eBay get round to taking NI numbers from anyone .

Unfortunately I think it's a symptom of a lack of media and information literacy, compounded by terrible 'journalism' perpetuating confusion (and outright lies, for a lot of subjects).  If people knew how to look for the source of information, it would be a start.  Or if articles had to provide even just one source for their 'information', it would be a start.

But, here we are, as individuals trying to give people the real information, but ultimately being about as effective as pebbles trying to stem the tide of misinformation and disinformation.  (Or that's how it feels, anyway!)
