Civil Enforcement Ltd and DCBL

Back in Aug 2024 I entered a local Pub in Northamptonshire, actually went for a drink at the pub, tried to order food, but they'd stopped serving outside, so we had another drink and then left. Thought nothing of it, then in Nov 2024 I receive a Debt Recovery Notice from DCBL informing me that I have paid a parking charge to Civil Enforcement Ltd and I now owe them £170. This was the first I knew of any parking penalty, but to cut a long story short, the vehicle I was in was registered to my old address and been's the car had been in restoration and repair for 5 years, I had forgotten to register to my new address that I moved to, so I hadn't recieved a letter from C

Ensure that the DPO at CEL has your current address for the service of papers
  • so I hadn't received any letters from Civil Enforcement ltd. As soon as I got the first letter from DCBL, I explained the situation and I did actually enter my registration number into their little ipad at the time and because DCBL are not interested in listening to my case, they will not say whether my registration went into the machine or not. I have sent a lengthy e/.mail to DCBL explaining that I did register the car at the time, I was at the pub and I have sent them a copy of my bank statement proving I was there at the exact time. DCBL are not interested, I have sent numerous e/mails, had numerous calls and no matter what is discussed they don't care. It's been 3 months + now and they keep threatening to take further action and see if Civil Enforcement Lt want to take it to court, but it's been weeks since they said they'd pursue that avenue and they still keep threatening me with it. Not at any stage have I refused to pay, but I have said that I will not pay until they answer questions, or put me in contact with Civil Enforcement ltd to explain and they never do either. I am not giving in, but I really do not know how I stand. I was at the pub, my bank statements prove it, I did put my erg into their machine, but no-one will give me any answers
  • How do I ensure that the DPO at CEL have my current address, no-one ever answers the phones and because my penalty notice is now with DCBL, when you call, it says deal with DCBL and cuts you off !

Ignore dcbl,  they are only interested in your money,  not explanations etc

    As I said previously

Ensure that the DPO at CEL has your current address for the service of papers,  because you do not want court papers going to old addresses,  just your current one

If CEL do decide to take it further then DCB Legal will send you a Letter of Claim followed by a court claim

Come back to this thread if either of those 2 happen,  for further advice

We had this same £170 DCB Ltd letter on the forum 5 or 6 times yesterday, and two of those threads explained how to cover the 'erase the old address' problem.

Skim read yesterday's thread titles and read those. We don't need to see that tedious letter which is already shown in the pictures in the 4th post of the NEWBIES thread in the section asking people not to post any more threads about £170 threatograms(!).
