    OP was never here to start with.
    As it says, these are "real" questions apparently emailed into MSE, not real people asking open questions of the board.

    It has never been explained how the questioner will be informed of answers or opinions given in reply to these "dilemma" posts, which thus seem to be nothing more than a hot air debate

    I think you would be wise to persuade your siblings to accept that very reasonable offer and to refuse to contribute further if they do not. Many mishaps can happen to an empty property - we had a burst pipe in my mother in law’s house which took months to resolve with the insurers and months to repair the damage. There were additional costs to meet as well, as the kitchen was old and not covered but still needed replacing.
