Home has different exterior finishes but timber extension is resulting in v high quotes?

Hi,
Our home has been extended a few times over the years and the walls are constructed of a mix of finishes, approx.:
* 37% timber (steel frame - cedar cladding)
* 29% breezeblock (concrete?)
* 29% stone
* 5% brick
A lot of insurers only give you the chance to choose one material and I have to select timber and it results in very high quotes. It's frustrating as timber even though it makes over just 1/3 of the material used in the house.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem and found a solution?
Thanks in advance.

What is the exact question you are being asked?
Some companies care about cladding, others just want to know the structural aspect of the external walls, you can be guided by the options as well as the Q and any helper notes. Some have just Brick where as others have Rendered Brick, clearly the former arent asking about any dressing.
Sounds like you are likely to have to go to the phone or Live Chat to confirm with the companies in Q but the largest material is Steel Frame which many insurers arent happy with.0 -
What is your definition of a high quote? it may be that your expectation and the reality are the issue.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
