Learner driver at different address and can't add to my existing policy

Options
Good morning
I tried to add my 23 year old daughter to my insurance today so she can start to learn driving. My insurance policy won't let her join my policy so I tried to look for her own policy.

When I'm trying to complete an application, the questions are geared around where the car is, which is at my house about 5 miles away. It's asking about other cars in the household and I don't know how to approach this. She has 2 cars where she lives, but i don't have any other cars and it's at my address. It's making things confusing and I'm not sure if i should just cancel my policy and get a new one with her added, or if I can simply find some insurance for her alone. Any advice welcomed.

Try Marmalade learner ins. Other companies do the same. She can then take it out & pay herself

definitely Marmalade - my daughter was living elsewhere and this policy worked fine as an add on

So the car your daughter would be driving is at your house?  I assume you're the legal owner and registered keeper of the vehicle?  Would you be the main driver of the car with your daughter only taking the wheel on occasions?
Assuming the above is true, then you should try to get an insurance policy for yourself that would also cover your daughter.  If your daughter was to buy car insurance, she'd be paying for theft protection which might never pay out as the car does not belong to her.  There might also be issues because that car isn't generally parked at her house overnight.

So are you looking at another full policy or a top up policy?

You are pretending to be her so you answer all questions as if you are her, who you are or what cars you have got is irrelevant if you are pretending to be her.

If its a top up policy its not likely to ask about where the car is kept but if it does you have to answer it in relation to her declared home and so its likely to be "away from the property" or something similar. Keeping it on your driveway doesn't entitle her to declare it as "on my driveway"
