Good morning all. It's fine at the moment but rain is forecast for the best part of the afternoon; top temperatures of 11 C, lows of 4 C. Could be worse I suppose.
Yesterday I had a short walk of about 30 mins, baked a ginger & apricot cake and sorted out the bag of cables. All but two have been matched up with their appliances but these two are mystifying me as to their purpose. I've been all round the house and can't see what they are for.Anyway, I boxed up some unwanted but still functioning small electrical appliances that can go to the CS, another car load for DS. Last night I watched a film - Mr Jones - about Stalin's Famine; perhaps not ideal bedtime viewing but nevertheless an eye opener and very thought provoking.
This morning I've already had one of those annoying calls where the caller hangs up as soon as you answer. It's probably a scam for energy or something like that, apparently Tyneside area. Today's main job will be putting away the grocery delivery that's arriving midday; all P&C with no subs. By the time I've done that it could be raining so possibly no walk today. That's OK, I may have a nana nap instead thanks to last night's late night TV.Tea tonight is the other half of the chicken & mushroom supreme, this time with a portion of rice from the freezer.
Gers - Sorry to hear your friend isn't well. My not used much printer probably needs a fair few updates too, not to mention new ink cartridges.
remmie - Happy birthday to your DD. Children always manage a way to make us feel old, don't they?
Ruby - Poor Rob, gout can be so painful. Does he have regular medication for it?
TA - Enjoy today's lunch outing. Shame about the haircut. I used to have a pixie cut but post lockdown have my hair in a short bob, much easier to manage. And I've got the hairdresser trained!
Right, I've waffled enough and have had my first cuppa, now breakfast calls. I'm thinking porridge and a banana. Take care all, enjoy your day, hugs where needed or wanted. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning all, it's a dull day today, not raining yet though!Remmie, Happy Birthday to your DD, it's also DS1s today, also in his 40s :oA lot of women seemed to have babies younger in those days - thats my excuse and I'm sticking to itWe called in on our old friends on the way to school and caught up with their news & had a coffee. Then stood waiting for DGS in the yard until 1 of his friends raced up and said he had gone home. He's a bit of a joker so I went up to his teacher and asked - 'oh yes he went home this morning after a bump on the head, did no-one tell you' Thanks DS2, spoke to him and he 'd forgotten to tell me
! At least we were back home earlier than usual. I rang DGS later and he seems ok.
I got in touch with an old school friend as a group of us intend to meet up to mark our special birthdays, and I was missing a couple of dates, caught up on news- her and her DH are off to India soon, another 1 is in Thailand at the mo.My best friend is on her Aus and NZ motor home trip .I've ordered another meat pack from the butcher, stocks are running low so will pick it up on Thursday.RR, poor lad, my DB2 gets gout so I know how painful it is.Hope he recovers soonTake care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Hi everyone,
We have both children at home today, Esben is really fit enough to go to school but the Dr told Laura to keep him off this week because of the risk of infection. He was bouncing round the house yesterday and I can foresee that he might be sent to school at the end of the week.
Esther has developed a Wallace and Gromit obsession, mind you it's better than about 90% of the kids tv, there's always something amusing to spot. We managed without screen entertainment yesterday for the most part so I shall try that again today, probably with a varying degree of success. We did lots of lego yesterday and set up a crystal experiment. Today might be a bit of baking.
Have a good outing TA, let me know where you decide on for lunch.
Sorry to hear about your friend Gers.
I hope you had a better night last night Nanny.
I hope Rob's gout improves Ruby it must be so confusing for him with everything that has happened.
Have a good day.

Snoozer it's home ground today. Skipton day is tomorrow!
ROSY I haven't got the early baby excuse unfortunately as I was 27 when i had DD
. 29 when i had DS.. I felt positively ancient compared to most.of the young mums on the ward!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -
Morning all, it's another grey day another mini sleep night, feels like I'm just cat napping. Yesterday we had a call from Dad saying he'd had a phone call about his bank card being used. He got himself in such a flap and couldn't work his phone, he kept cutting us off, so we went up to sort it out. This is the second time we've had to sort him out since Friday when he couldn't work his TV. Having to sort out the bank himself (with Mr Fix It sat by his side and prompting) thankfully he has finally given in to us having a POA. It was a scam btw.
On arriving home our neighbours were having some trees cut down so the firm came round and took some down for us too, sadly tree cutting is beyond us now.
Our DGD played rugby yesterday too and her team are through to the final of the inter schools cup for under 14 girls but unfortunately she had to go off injured. Why can't she pick something more sedate like tiddlywinks instead of these rough sports, my heart was in my mouth when she was learning show jumping !!
This afternoon Mr Fix It has to go for his oncology injection so I hope the nurse is on time. No idea what we'll have for tea it depends on how long he has to wait for his appointment, there's plenty in the freezer anyway for a quick meal.
Happy birthday to the children, I swear my DD is catching me up too !
Rosy oh dear naughty DS for not telling you not to go for pick up.
RedRuby gentle hugs for Rob, poor lad as if he hasn't had enough to put up with already.
TA you did make me chuckle about the balaclava, just don't go in any banks 🤣
Take care all, have a good day all.
nan xx

Morning all! I feel like I've accomplished something, everything is back in under the stairs except for going to the tip stuff or farming out stuff [ spanners, a socket set [ when exactly will I be fixing something with multiple bolts again?] , some screwdrivers [who needs five Phillips screwdrivers?] and a load of screws/nails, you know the type, the odd one here and there to make a misc nail and screw pile where you take the odd one very occasionally]. Window cleaner is here so I need to be looking industrious. After having words with the OH about the very heavy hoover I don't use but he bought [and also doesn't use] it's been decided he will either give it to someone or it will go upstiars when there is carpet to hoover. This is his sunk cost fallacy thing happening becaise it was an expensive dyson when he bought it ten years ago. Todays plans are stop procrastinating and get into the room of doom.TA, I think I would love to see you getting on the bus, going into shops etc with a balaclava...and shouting, this is a stick up! Nanny, well, that's a start from him anyway, well done on getting him to agree with it. You could get one for health too.. Rosy, bet that was a shock too! snoozer, I can just imagine the chaos involved in having them running round and screaming
Gers, there is something really irritating about trying to get a printer working nd then not being far off throwing the thing out of the window follwed by a glow when you sort it out. remmie, my cousin is alsways saying the same thing about her local one too. Ruby, poor Rob, he's not having a good time is he? How's his mum doing? Izzy, how's the retirement going now? It's been a year ish hasn't it? Take care all, poodles too, wrap up, it's still nippy....
