I'm with you on the overwhelm for online selling, it's been on my to-do list for months. I'm sure I'll be ok once I start. I'm trying to sort a whole storage unit of my father's stuff too though, which doesn't help.
I'm glad the hmrc curveball hasn't thrown you too much. Sometimes I think the change in mindset that comes with tackling the debts is just as valuable as the financial wins.

Thank you @rachmac3, wishing you well on climbing your online selling mountain. I have been badly ill these last days and have had no energy to do anything. I keep telling myself I’ll sort it next week. I’ve also got a load of urgent financial/bank/accounts stuff to do and have been burying my head in the sand about that. When I’m totally better, I need to sort a lot.

    I don't have that excuse, I just haven't bothered!
Rest up and recover before you worry too much about all the other stuff that should be done. You won't get far if you're not looking after yourself.

Sometimes I post one thing in there that I intend to do that day (or weekend) just to keep me accountable.
Hope you're feeling better soon x

ah, just revisiting this to say I’m now debt-free. Thank you @Rhyddid2026 for your kind and helpful words xxx

I went away from the forum due to traumatic family illness. I’ve popped back up to join challenges etc.

I got my debt down by being the most frugal I have ever been.

I pledged to myself I wouldn’t buy any new clothes for me last year. I got to about September and bought 2 pairs of shoes from a charity shop, as my old pair was falling apart, excellent quality makes and paid £7 in all. I also bought a new coat from a charity shop for £4 and am wearing it loads.

I’ve done more cooking from scratch than ever, making soups and sauces which feels good.

I’ve picked up household items from Olio, including brand new wine glasses to use at Christmas and a toaster that’s getting plenty of use.

I also used items picked up for free or bought at a garage sale to put aside for Christmas presents. I sold my Christmas jumper, a Christmas T shirt, a Christmas hand towel and some board games.

Wishing everyone chipping away at debt the very best of luck and please be kind to you — the accompanying emotional health battles can be devastating I know, you’re not alone and these forums can provide a wonderful level of support and wisdom.
