Can't afford free holders refurbishment fees. Help!

Options
I bought an ex council flat in a block of 12. The council is carrying out repairs to water tank, the roof, replacing windows and painting communal areas. They say my share of the costs is £51k! I don't have this funnily enough and as the flat is only worth about £225K, I don't think it is worthwhile. I'm really stressed about this - what can I do?

What does your lease say about such payments. (Have you read it?).

You want to avoid the place being forfeit... Understand?

Have you received a Section 20 Notice? When did you receive it?
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

It depends on the council, but some will go beyond their legal obligations and offer a variety of payment plans
