Hi,
Can anyone tell me who is responsible for paying tax on untaxed building society interest on a joint account ?

Do you mean "Who bears the tax burden" or do you mean "Who is responsible for making sure it gets paid" ?

The answer is mostly the same for both (as eskbanker says above) - with the addendum to the 2nd question of:  Not the building society
