It could be that, althouth your card details have been used, the physical card has not and they are deciding whether to send you your next card.Yes in the second half of this year and yes the physical card has never been used, just the details.lr1277 said:This thread got me wondering.I wonder if your debit card is in your Apple/Google/Samsung wallet, but not used, would the bank send out such an email or cancel the card?I've never added it to Apple/Google so it could be the case they wont on that basis. My understanding is this generates a DPAN (another card number) which "points" to the physical card e.g. if your physical card is stolen and a replacement issued the DPAN will still work (unless you explicitly tell the bank to cancel/break the link to the card in your Apple/Google wallet). On that basis they would have to issue new card details or Google/Apple pay will stop working.

I've got the email today, my card doesn't expire until end of next year so it seems a little premature if expiry is driving the process.
Don't think I've ever used the physical card beyond verifying it when first received, used each month to move cash for reward qualification. Not added to any online wallet.0 -
Seems like an extraneous email to me from Halifax, it seems that one banks get your email address they love piling in with rubbish like this. What purpose is it meant to serve, and is it ever wise in this day and age to have links in the email going elsewhere and in effect nudging people to act upon such unexpected emails by interacting?
Surely it should be a case of please phone the number of the back of your card, go to a branch or message us via internet banking/app by logging onto halifax.co.uk etc.
The only time I ever recall getting such a letter was from Santander on a very rarely used account that got payments in but wasn't touched otherwise - the card sat in my draw. The card was due for renewal and the gist of the letter was to get you to signify you wanted a replacement by going to a cash machine and doing a withdrawal.1 -
