hi,
I'm looking for a new laptop, i've found this one http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=424552&tab=specification which seems like a good deal
only problem is it has vista, i've never used vista but read a lot about it being slow, can anyone advise if they think this system would run ok with vista??
TIA

My laptop runs Vista perfectly, actually.
1GB is sufficient for Vista.0 -

Good Luck with your new purchase, hope you love it!
I've been running Vista on a machine with 2G of Ram and have had absolutely no problems, it's really fast at everything, including internet gaming according to my DD who regularly uses it for such!Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. :A0 -
My laptop struggles with Vista with 1 gig. Well it runs fine apart from when you want to process something. But 2 gig should definitely be enough.0

No problems running Vista on my desktop or laptop BUT you have to be careful to run compatible products with it i.e. printer, ipod etc etc. Had to give away a really good Lexmark printer because it did not have compatible driver and there is no option of downloading a driver direct from Lexmark website. Went to PC World to buy a new printer and found NONE were compatible and was told I would need to download driver from the manufacturer. Was really really miffed about that and since then have found quite a few products that are not compatible. Be sure to check anything before installing. Good luck.Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool like me!! _party_   _party_0

To echo the above point, i treated myself to a ipod, downloaded itunes no problems. Next time I re-booted pc my cd drive had disappeared, searched the net for workarounds no solutions but lots of people had same problem. Had to remove itunes programme to make it re appear and take shiny ipod back .0 -
I've been running Vista since before it was legal, nothing wrong with it now, the first few months were a bit of a pig, but now that new drivers are available for most stuff it's great, I would never think about going back to XP, people who still say Vista is no good are the same people who think sliced bread will never catch on.There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

I'm not having any problems with Vista either, all my software has been compatible so far, except the PDF converter on a very old version of Printshop. That was soon fixed by downloading Expert PDF and using that instead. It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0
