Line through my laptop screen

Options
Hi, a couple of days ago a strange black line appeared horizontally across the middle of my laptop screen.  Doesn't seem to be affecting me using the laptop but it's a bit annoying.  My laptop isn't particularly new but it's worked fine up to now so don't really want the hassle of buying a new one with all that entails if I can avoid it.  Thanks.

Have you left it 'on' for some time - perhaps screen burn?

No.  Don't use it for long periods. Usually only two hours max at any given time.

You have lost a line of pixels, if it doesn’t bother you no need to buy a new one.

The pixel answer seems logical, thanks

You could try something like Jscreenfix, I've had success with that when I had a friends laptop with two parallel lines of damaged pixels.
(She had closed it with a ruler inside, and then her dog stood on it, leaving two black lines of crushed pixels across the screen where the edges of the ruler were).
However whilst it can be good at reviving 'stuck' or crushed pixels it sound as if yours may be dead for other reasons, still it's free to use so worth a try.

Is that still a thing with modern screens?

They (screens) don't cost a huge amount to replace, one to ask next time you're passing your local High Street tech bar place.
