When you launch your Kindle you face a screen of adverts

Swipe to open it and they disappear not to be seen again until you open it next time.

All models of Kindle come with/without adverts, depending on whether your pay more for the advert free one. You can pay to "upgrade" the advert version later, if the adverts annoy you.

As long as an advert does not pop up when I am reading it does not matter.Why bother paying extra just to get rid of an ad that does not actually impact once you swipe at the start?
