Hi all.

Last bill was for the dates between 30.11.2024 and 31.12.2024

Current bill is from 23.12.2024 to 31.1.2025

Have I been charged again for the week dated 23.12.2024 to 31.12.2024?

Check the details of the bills. Do the closing meter readings on the first match the opening meter readings on the second? And check exactly how many days of standing charges are being billed on each.

I think the days seem to match. But why not keep the billing dates simple from the start of one month to the next?

Also the figure in their app (for the month) is approx. £50 for both gas and electric usage, yet I've got a bill for nearly £70??

Because British Gas' computer system is a mess, and they keep sending out wrong bills.

    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Well I spoke to BG via web chat (probably in India) and they said the app can sometimes give out wrong info, so they're going to do some fiddling.

Advised me to leave it for 24/48 hours and then check again.

Also I get a reading 2 days later. Is that normal? I thought it would have been every 24 hours?

BG's billing is very convoluted and requires careful reading of the detail. You should see the original billed dates, credited back on the latest bill you're reading and then recharged in that same latest billing period. Just one of many reasons why I moved my elderly parents away from BG.
