Trust Pilot - can they be trusted?

The only time I've thought trustpilot was reliable was when I looked up the company that had taken over our doctors surgery.
It rates one star in both the US and UK.
Two countries can't be wrong.
Diabolical and frighteningI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

Perhaps a case for Which? to investigate?0

Which? Is more problematic that Trust pilot. Very high salaries and bonuses plus multiple data leaks.0

What have very high salaries and bonuses got to do with the integrity of reviews?1

Why would you trust TrustPilot? Or any other on-line reviews which are controlled entirely by the web site operator.1

I look at Trustpilot quite a lot, especially if I am using a new firm. I’ve never had a problem with them.GJS123 said:Why would you trust TrustPilot? Or any other on-line reviews which are controlled entirely by the web site operator.
I’ve avoided some Chinese online firms which had dreadful reviews.
One year we were on holiday in Yorkshire and were looking for a tea shop. I found one on Trustpilot with 5* reviews. We went there and it was amazing. Lovely food and large portions, we took some back to our holiday cottage.I’ve posted reviews on there myself, especially if the product/service has been particularly good or bad. I’ve read that they remove reviews but I’ve checked my reviews a while after I’ve posted them and they have always been there still0 -
Trustpilot has their own page on the site and every day 1000+ reviews on their page appear. If you look they're appearing every few minutes.
Nearly all of them ***** stars and most are invited. Yet bizarrely they're all only a few words long.
They currently have nearly half a million reviews on their own page.
Who wakes up and decides they'll sign up for an account with Trustpilot to review Trustpilot and give them five stars?
Don't worry though because they have zero tolerance for fake reviews.1 -
I went to log into my account and was asked to put a code in, tried to do that and it said my account had been suspended. So I contacted them asking why?Eventually got a reply saying they cannot tell me and I need to reply to an email by fabricatedreviews@truspilot I had never heard of the email and had never received any email from this account so was really confused and since then have been cryptic messages then eventually got a message saying since you cannot place this email reply to this thread and send us the documents of the business??? So they can continue their investigations?? What investigations? I have only left reviews for companies I have bought from and the delivery companies, some good reviews for the delivery companies but most negative as it is the only way to get a reply and the parcel! I asked which business??? And have had no reply. So cryptic, so I email the privacy team stating if I cannot get support and I am going to be locked out of my account then I don’t want my account and under the GDPR request all my data and my account to be erased. They replied saying to log into my account and delete it!! Knowing they have locked me out so cannot do that! I no longer trust them at all! I want my account and my information gone and I cannot do that!! It’s infuriating!0

I think you are granting far too much importance to a company whose business model relies on people providing them with content for their website for free. If you were a business who might be worried about their reviews then that's different.me_bex said:I went to log into my account and was asked to put a code in, tried to do that and it said my account had been suspended. Ignore them.
I've never really understood the use of TrustPilot as a de facto complaints mechanism to trigger an individual response when presumably the direct approach either doesn't work or doesn't exist. Maybe TrustPilot doesn't like it's site being used for individual complaint resolution?0 -
@flaneurs_lobster then they would need to suspend nearly every account on trustpilot if they didn’t like it 😅0
