How long have I had a motorbike licence?
Good morning all!
I need some answers and cannot find anything concrete so need your help please.
I passed my CBT to ride a 125cc motorbike back in February 2020, I purchased a bike the same month and insured it. I then completed my full bike test in October 2021 and immediately upgraded to a larger bike and have had no breaks in riding/insurance, carrying my insurance over to a new larger bike.
The bit that keeps stumping me, with no clear answer, is that when on comparison sites for new insurance it is asking me how many years have I had a 'full' motorbike licence, in this case it is between 3-4 years so I must select 3.
However if I select this, it only allows me to put 3 years NCB bonus earned, everything above is either greyed out or missing on the varying comparison sites.
However advice online states you earn NCB on your CBT endorsement/licence and therefore as I have never made a claim on my motorbike insurance I should be able to put it as 5 years from this month correct?
What am I misunderstanding here please?

If I were you I'd find the best policy you can online and then speak to the company providing that policy directly and explain the situation1

born_again said:That is when you got a FULL bike licence...I don't think that is the issue, the OP is aware of that. Their problem is that they have been riding, acciddent free, for longer than that, so should therefore be able to claim more NCB.As above, only option I can see for you is to talk directly to an insurer...

It appears the insurer does not recognise the time you had a provisional licence only, with only cbt.
Many do not.You will need to try and find one who does.0 -
Are you sure it’s all comparison sites? I have been in the exact situation and been able to get my NCB for longer than my Full licence accepted.
Unless it’s a recent change on the sites.0
