Experiences of EDF - Good/bad?
I’m thinking of switching to the EDF Simply Tracker Extra Apr26 tariff.
What are people’s recent experiences of EDF like?
I know every utility company has its negative reviews but some suppliers seem to be worse than others.

Better than British Gas but worse than Octopus. Probably about on par with E.On Next but don't they have a freephone number. They take 24 hours or so to respond to emails.1

My experience of BG, EDF, EON Next and Octopus would put them in that order, form "most useless" to "most responsive".Swipe said:Better than British Gas but worse than Octopus. I have been with EDF for over 2 years since moving from OVO who were utterly appalling. Whenever there has been an occasional glitch it has been sorted within 24 hours. I have recently had queries which were answered by email next day & when I phoned them last week I was on hold for less than 5 minutes on a number which was free for me to call. They currently offer a £50 switch incentive referral code which is a nice discount both on my bills & on that of friends who have used it.
I am on SVT on MVDD & find billing to be accurate & clear, especially since being transferred to the Kraken account system. I make sure to submit monthly readings so I never get estimated bills & am currently awaiting smart meters, which I shall still monitor carefully & raise any issues or problems at once.
Asking around I find as many people satisfied with any particular company as there are those who have had a bad experience so it really does seem to be a lucky dip.1 -
Which free number you were calling EDF on as 03330 069 950 is charged at national rate whereas E.On Next and Octopus are 08XX freephone numbers?pseudodox said:I have been with EDF for over 2 years since moving from OVO who were utterly appalling. My BT landline inclusive calling plan includes 0333 numbers at no charge, but I have also called them on UK numbers with area code 0191 in the North East. Granted I pay a monthly fee for the landline facility, but as I live in a mobile signal black hole I get more than my moneysworth just on landline calls to various friends and relatives (unlimited calling to their landline or mobile) over a month. I can chat all day if I choose. If I ring from home on my mobile I am lucky if a) I get a signal initially and b) if I do that it does not drop out mid-conversation.
BTW 0333 numbers appear on my phone bill as UK numbers although judging by the accents of the people I have spoken to they are somewhere overseas (India? S Africa?)0 -
Thanks everyone for the feedback.
The comparisons with E.ON Next are interesting as they are my current supplier - Only ever had one issue with E.ON Next but that took several weeks and countless messages to finally resolve.
As a low energy user, the lower standing charges on the EDF Simply Tracker tariff are attractive plus the £50 referral would be utilised amongst my family.“Hardware: The parts of a computer system that can be thrown out of the nearest window!”0 -
Are you aware you can get £50 cashback on Top cashback. Bit hit and miss by the looks of it but worth a shot.XDA said:Thanks everyone for the feedback.
