Incorrect default - company now out of business

Good afternoon,

In August of 2018 I bought a household product through Perfect Homes.
I fully paid off with monthly payments.

I bought two more products in the following 3 and a bit years.

I just had an alert and suddenly a default is showing for the August 2018 purchase and due to go off in December of this year.

The payment history has showing as On-time payments until February 2020, no data showing for March 2020 then a default showing April 2020.

The other two accounts both opened after 2019 and closing after April 2020 show on-time payments throughout.

I have no idea how to get this incorrectly applied default removed.

Any advice would be most welcomed.

You can`t, is the short answer, if the company has ceased trading, there`s not a lot that can be done.

If they appointed administrators, and you can contact them, they may be able to help.

The only other option is dispute it with the CRA`s, and they may temporarily hide the information, the entry will be automatically removed on the 6th anniversary of the default date.

As sourcrates says, the CRAs will hide information if they cant get the creditor to confirm it is correct. The administration looks to be ending in the next few months, so at that point ask whatever CRA the record appears on (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) to "suppress" the record saying why you feel it is incorrect and saying the administrators will no longer answer.
