As they title suggests I am having problems with the new style bottle tops. These are the ones where they are "hinged" if you understand.
I have narrowly avoided injury as I have had to use a knife to break the seal.
Any advice or recommendations for gadgets please.

Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

I had that problem so I changed to screw tops
Then to a filter and now drink water instead as it is good for you0 -

If it's actually difficulty in opening, there are numerous hand-held devices that can help with this. If it's the nuisance factor afterwards, then the two wee ties should be quite snippable with scissors once opened and tilted.
I thought it a right pain the first few times, but I'm now used to them.

OK. I defy anyone to try opening ASDAs Ginger Ale or Copella apple juice, they drove me mad.
So if anyone could recommend a good bottle opener I would be grateful.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
Why have they been changed ?
The normal screwed top worked ok.2 -

Some of these tops are a right PITA. Can't remember which bottle it was but it was so difficult to open, in the end the plastic bit connecting the bottle top to the bottle stretched and I had to end up cutting that bit off.
Anyway, I don't have this particular gadget but I do have a jar opener by the same company and it's very good

They are more difficult to open because one or two notches are designed to stay attached. So it takes more strength to break those tabs that should be broken. You can also start off in the wrong place ie you are trying to twist with a couple of notches either side of your thumb and forefinger and the lid won’t move easily. They are a pain.
i didn’t realise initially, but if you are trying to drink from a bottle with this lid, the lid gets in the way. You should be able to lift the open lid up and over the bottle opening, so it ends facing downwards on the other side of the bottle. This gives you more room on the opening and no sharp edges.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. Like most things that improve recyclability/make things more green, it comes with a downside.0

I've noticed recently they are coming with twist and click- twist to open, push down until you hear a click, then the cap doesn't get in the way while you drink.0

It's a minor inconvenience for me. I snap the things apart - I always make sure to screw it back on before it enters my recycling.0
