TBH I had a hell of a job getting my daughter's printer connected to her laptop via WiFi. That was through a Sky router.

  • When I changed routers with my HP printer and laptop I had to factory reset the printer so it "forgot" the old router details, from there the HP Smart recognised it as a new printer and set it up accordingly and has been working fine since.
  • You should set the WIFI printer to use fixed ip, not DHCP

Have you looked on YouTube it's probably the wireless printer password that it cannot find. You get that by printing off a status report.

Probably not the problem here, but just in case - I found I could not connect to the wireless printer or scanner on my Canon if I had a VPN running.

  • Morning all, just an update to the problem I was having. A chap on the Sky forum advised that by lowering the security setting on my new Sky Hub it should connect my printer to WiFi. Happy to report it worked immediately so my upgraded router was clearly causing the issue. After connecting, the laptop set up the new driver via HP Smart and it's all now back to normal. I am now happily printing off the pics for my grandson's birthday. Many thanks to all of you who helped and proffered your suggestions, it was much appreciated. Have a very good day. Jack
