RTS switch off

What will happen to my meter when the RTS signal is turned off ?,
Will it just stay on one of the two clocks and not change or will it stop working altogether ?
There are lots of warnings that heating and water will stop working but why would that be?
My heating and water is my combi gas boiler , its only link to the electricity is a 3 pin plug
to power it ( just like my kettle , tv, toaster etc) .or are some systems linked directly to the meter ?
Mine switches from night to daytime readings but my charge is the same for both so if it still works but on only one clock my meter shouldn`t need changing .
Or am i missing something ?
thanks in advance for any info

If you have gas central heating, are you sure you have an RTS meter? A photo of it would help ...I'm not being lazy ...

I guess that if you have a separately switched off-peak hot water and heating circuit, controlled by the RTS signal then it wont switch if there's no signal to activate it ergo not heating or hot water.
The alternative could be that theres a default situation where all circuits are just switched onto the peak rate and everything still works but its going to cost a lot more.
It will all depend on how your circuits are configured and whether you've got separate peak and off peak circuits.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
