Event Ticket Refund

Options
If I buy a ticket to an event and now have to go for an operation so I cannot attend the event, am I entitled to a refund even if the terms of sale specify the ticket is non-refundable?

It's a dinner and DJ event at a local restaurant, there wasn't any insurance option. Or is there a third party instance I should have had?

No, you’re not. You’re the one breaking the contract. Unless you have travel insurance which covers you.

If there wasn't an insurance option at purchase then it would be down to you to make your own insurance arrangements.  To be honest it doesn't sound like it would be a particularly expensive ticket and most insurance policies would have an excess which wouldn't make it worthwhile anyway.

Just one of those things, I'm afraid.  If it was the vendor cancelling that would be different.

Ask if you can transfer the ticket to a future event, or if you can have credit to use in the restaurant at some point.  They may agree.

It's £90, a lot of money to just throw away. Very frustrating. Thanks for the advice everyone. Have a good evening

Hats off to you for your priorities though.

We get countless “clients” telling us which days they can’t attend and when we can fit in amongst their arrangements for hospital procedures and courses of treatments.

    Hope all go well
