Hi. I have been in a relationship for the last 16 years with someone who has bad credit score and will have for significant amount of time. I want to get a mortgage next year, just on myself, my annual salary is something over £45.000. We have been renting the same house for the last 11 years, our both names are on water bill and on council tax. We just deleted joint bank account (I have not beem using it for years anyway) and I want to do a dissociation notice due to deleting the account. But how about the water and council tax bills, will this have an impact on my credit score and possibility to get a mortgage? Is it possible for him to be removed from council tax bill bit still live with me? I don't know what is the best way yo go about it to ensure my credit score is ok. I am paying everything on time for the last 5 years.

A financial association is only created if you hold a financial product together, common examples being a joint account or a mortgage. Council tax won't create an association, but utility bills usually will.Remember that the actual score you see is irrelevant, and has no impact whatsoever on your ability to obtain credit. But if there are negative markers on your (or your financially associated partner's) file such as missed payments etc., these will have an impact.1
