Redundancy and payment across tax years

I'm getting conflicting information from a tax person and HMRC.
I'm getting a P45 in March but my pay-out won't be till end of April. In what tax year do i declare my redundancy income (outside the £30K tax free?). Is there a website where I can find this information? Many thanks.
