Shared ownership delays

Options
Hello

I began to purchase a shared ownership property in May last year. The date of mid-late September was given for building completion, I know there can be delays for a number of reasons. However, we were then given a date in November that building work had been completed.

We then was given the go ahead for the 11th December for exchange of contracts etc as the survey was due to be completed a couple of days prior. This date came and went then some snags were picked up that needed rectifying before the housing association would exchange… this was prior to Christmas.

From what I have seen going on at the property it took the builders up until last week to start with the snags. And I still have no date for exchanging of contracts, no NHBC certificate has been issued yet and I am still waiting. This is 5 months overdue.

I spoke with my solicitor as I am effectively homeless and have been for 2 months spending thousands on temp accommodation, storage etc with young children and it’s not appropriate as money has run out and I’m living here there and everywhere.

My solicitor told me I’d still have to pay the conveyance fees so I’d be £5k out of pocket with fees and what I’ve spent on moving.

Does anyone have any advice what I can do in this situation?

I’ve spoke to the housing ombudsman and have emailed the housing association with the complaint but no reply as of yet. It appears I am getting lied too every time I speak to the estate agents involved and given empty promises every week which is very disappointing.

Thankyou in advance for any replies.

Until exchanged, know one has any liability to you
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
