National Insurance back payment for someone abroad

Hello
I have a relative who has just realised that back payment of national insurance for someone abroad where payments are allowed all the way back to the year 2006 will change on April 5th 2025. She has called future pensions and got a forecast and filled in form CF38 to apply to do get a quote on how much she owes. She waits to hear but a quick search on HMRC about when she might hear about that indicates May 2025. Will they take the date from which she applied or has she missed the boat for back dating that far? Thanks very much.

Per this thread, the important date is when they receive the completed CF83 form:Is that the situation she's in?N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

Perfect. Thanks so much. This is exactly the same.1

I made voluntary contributions from overseas last year but the response to my CF83 didn't give me a figure defining what I needed to pay to get a full pension. It was more of an enhanced NI record confirming which years were available, whether they were class 2 (abroad and working) or 3 (abroad and not working) and what each year would cost. Presumably, if your application was received in time, the years for which there is the April deadline will appear on that list?1

If your friend posts the pertinent details of her pensions forecast on this forum someone will tell her how many years she needs to buy but whether they will be class 2 or 3 can only be determined via the CF83. Maybe the response format has changed.1

You describe precisely what the CF83 achieves. You need to also speak to DWP Future Pension Centre to establish whether any year on the schedule will increase your pension, and if so, by how much.1
