PARKING EYE - court claim - the final stage January 2026

Depends on the case, the amount claimed, the time, effort, paperwork involved etc
If they haven't paid the hearing fee, then its the Money Claim fee plus all the paperwork and time expended by the legal team etc
If the hearing went ahead, its also the hearing fee plus any advocate fees , or their internal expenses
Seems to me that they want to mitigate the latter by discontinuing early3 -

It means you agree to both sides walking away, each bearing their own costs, so neither side claims off the other
Job done
So if your costs are negligible, why wouldn't you agree to a discontinuation, unless you issued a counter claim. ?
Happy to end this at this point, but I was just wondering if at this stage I might get a bill from the court (for example for mediation that already took place, the paperwork/ the time the court spent on this case etc...) Basically I know Parking Eye are lying ba**ards, so looking for hidden traps at this point, that's all :-) Thanks so much! xx
Agree to the Discontinuance.
Sending an advocate to court costs a 3 figure sum on top of the peanuts they've paid in court fees (the total court fee outlay as it stands is under £60 - including if they'd now paid for this hearing, which they might not have even paid yet).
You can see why this industry abuses the system can't you! Filing a claim to intimidate you this far - then giving up because you are a hard nut to crack and loads of others have paid up - has cost them just £35.
There are no repercussions. You have won!

Yay, thanks for ALL YOUR HELP @Coupon-mad
I've asked ChatGPT about their total costs at this stage and this is what I got (including their POPLA and DVLA costs too):Scenario A — they have paid issue fee, but not (yet) the hearing fee:
-
POPLA: £27.50
-
DVLA: £2.50
-
Court issue fee: £35
≈ £65.00 (plus postage/admin overheads)
Scenario B — they have paid both issue fee and hearing fee:
-
POPLA: £27.50
-
DVLA: £2.50
-
Court issue fee: £35
-
Hearing fee: £27
≈ £92.00 (plus postage/admin overheads)

Yes I didn't realise you'd also wasted their time and money at POPLA. Nicely played.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hey! And now my question is… do we still submit all the paperwork to the court (as requested by the court)? All we have from Parking Eye is this email, and then a proof in my emails that I've accepted their offer. What if they don't file the Discontinuance (and this is just one of their games - the aim: for us to miss the deadline of submitting paperwork to the court) Thanks!

You must follow the instructions in the court order regarding the WS and deadlines , which are emailed to the court and claimant ( or their lawyers. ) always assume that the hearing will go ahead unless they failed to pay the hearing fee by the hearing fee deadline
Meanwhile, email their litigation department regarding the required N279 discontinuation document
And
Contact the court regarding the hearing, to seek if it's been vacated

thank you so much, that's GOLD! xx
