Applying for a Current Account after paying off a DMP

Options
Hi

I paid off my DMP in Feb 2023. I just contacted Virgin Money as i need a cheque book to pay for something. They do not offer a cheque book with their basic account, M Plus Account.  Has anyone had any success getting a new back account after paying off their DMP? I am trying to build up my credit rating by paying off a credit card each month. Any tips would be helpful, thanks

Building society accounts allow cheque withdrawals over the counter.

I opened a Natwest select account while I was on a DMP with no problems so you could try them. I don't really see what the distinction is between a so called basic account and an account without an overdraft.

What is it that has to be paid by cheque? Surely they have a modern way to pay?

You could always use a postal order although that will cost you

Can you not pay by bank transfer or debit card if your account allows this? Cheque is really poor/slow way of paying

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
